growing up and goodbyes

I've been a bit busy uploading all the new stuff in the shop (Cherry Arte Morocco, Basic Grey Infuse and some more stuff I had lying around but hadn't gotten around to uploading.), still purging the scrapsupplies (you can't give out RAKS if you don't know what you have and what you don't want anymore, so I'm getting closer to sending those out !).

On the subject of scrapsupplies, how do you store your different chipboards ? Would love a tip on that !

Last Friday was the last day of school for all of us. The summer holiday has officially begun, although the weather makes it feel more like an autumn holiday ;)

Michael had awesome scores on his cito toets (a competence test they do every year in elementary school) and his report card was so good, there was no doubt he was going to group 3. So goodbye to kindergarden for Michael, hello grade 1 !He's growing up fast and is fighting for his position in this household as a bigger & older boy. We are trying to give him this, he gets to stay up later (actually this is usually only 15 min. longer as he needs a lot of sleep but he thinks it's way cool he get's to hang out with us in his pj's when Colin goes to bed) and we raised his bed up to the highest level (he's so into levels and points ....) and moved some furniture around so his room seems bigger now, just like him... Oh and he's totally rediscovered his camera and cannot stop taking pic's, I must say he's better at keeping it still so less blurry pic's !

Colin had his last day @ the creche today and is all ready for his holiday before he goes to kindergarden/grade 1. He's already been twice and said he wants to go to school forever, hehe that will change ;) His teacher said he had a blast, no problems and loved the part where they all sit in a circle and chat, hmmm now how come that didn't surprise us.
It was quite emotional for me this morning bringing him for the last time and I was quite stressed yesterday sorting everything out; pressies for the wonderful creche minders and the kiddies. He wanted to give the all creche minders some cakes so I bought chocolate and strawberries (which somehow he WANTED to have too as he loves telling everyone Bubbah is allergic to them) guess which one was finished off first LOL. For the kiddies we had ice cream, whipped cream and lot's of yummy stuff to decorate with. The prezzies were little wooden figures that bend (you know the kind where you push in the bottom part and they go all bendy ?) and his current fave cookies langnekken (chocolate covered sticks) in a paperbag with a fun photo and message from Colin. He had a blast and I have some great pic's to prove it, still need to be downloaded though.

It's our anniversary today 18 years (that's half my life) ago I met him in Benidorm, Spain and 5 years ago we tied the knot in Velzen, The Netherlands. We're not doing anything special today due to some circumstances beyond our control but we have a date night scheduled for tommorow !

Latin Village 2007

Had so much fun yesterday ! I was invited by my friend Martine (thanks sweetie !) to go to Latin Village for a day of fun, good music, dancing (from 15.00 till 23.00!) beautiful people and great dj's (Laidback Luke rocked the last slot @ the main stage !). We had great weather and our wellingtons (we had some cuties on) made sure the earlier rain didn't get our feet wet & muddy (typing this I'm thinking why in gods name didn't we take a pic of our feet sjeeesh....). Martine, Charmaine, Julz & Chantal thanks I had a blast !

Wonderful Imaginations

Isn't it great that kids have such great imaginations ? And boy do these parents have tooo LOL.

Theme of a summerparty @ Colin's creche was fairytales and we had the hardest time thinking up a "costume" for this. He changed his mind a few times big bad wolfe, one of the 7 goats, Little Poucet (which we were hoping since it was the easiest to realize ) but decided for the latter the night before (yeah). But... next morning guess what happened, yep he changed his mind again. He was going to be one of the 7 goats .... So how do you make a goat with about 1 hrs notice you might ask ? With imagination and some special make-up .... check this out !

Oh and then in the afternoon, we had another rush job as Michael thought it would be nice to dress up too. So when he said big bad wolfe, I suggested the puss in boots and he went for it (thank god because it was an easy one to realise), so again a little imagination and special make-up ... check this out !

GM rocks {even over 40 ! }

It's a good thing Mandy is on vacation or she'd think it's about another singer that has the initials GM (LOL) but I'm talking about George Michael of course.










Totally unexpected I was able to purchase some last minute tickets thanks to an early birthday pressie from my parents (thanks sooo much you guys you rock !) and it was the most fun I'd had at a concert in a long time (thanks for coming with me Edith and Wendy & Jos for having the patience sms'ing and waving so we could find you there LOL) .

Don't get me wrong I loved all the concerts I've seen this year so far, but this was such a party probably bcause of all the great songs that bring back so many memories ;) He had a great stage with super light effects and designs (hmm the scrapbooker in me loved that !) and he had sort of a catwalk thing going on so when he came to the front of the stage he was about 7 mtrs away, the funny thing was it looks so close but when we made a pic it looked so far ....
Not too happy about his last cd though, bit too disco ? but his fab voice makes up for that. And btw I just love how he dances, yes I cannot help it I have a bit of a crush on a gay guy .....



Tommorow I'll share some scrapping I've been doing, mainly cards (my little brother turned 19 this week) for some special people and a little project for Michael's school (that I HAVE to do tonight as it's teachers day tommorow where they celebrate all the b'days in one day).

Oh and we moved the dutch dares up a week due to some other things going on but wanted to keep you busy in the meantime so check this out !

My Favorites part I

I'm a cream freak you all know .... I should probably scrap this soon ;)

But I'd love to share my favourites with you since Revlie was so happy with one that I gave to her as a mommy gift when we visited last (which was #2).

1. I've had this tube an eternity b'cause it does last a long time, except the tube is looking really nasty (EA should really work on that material :( ...) and you probably have heard of this wondercream (used by make up artists as lip gloss) it works like magic on everything: Elizabeth Ardens 8 Hour Cream

Description: This skincare classic helps to soothe, restore, soften and protect chapped, dry or mildly irritated skin. 2. Second favorite, I use it on my hands and feet, nice cocoa smell before I go to sleep LOL... Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Cream

Very long update and some photo's too .... part II

Michael got his 3rd ribbon at his swimming lessons only one more to go and
then he can go for his diploma which we expect after the summer. Here's a funny pic of him, the ribbon and a matching balloon.

I am so in a scrapping mood lately got lots of inspiration (maybe it's because my scraproom is getting more and more organized. I whipped this little dutch dare up yesterday brought to us by the sweet & talented Celine, just some lovely pic's of the boys (this is just one side will post the other side soon) combined with paper designed by a sweet friend I was extremely happy :D.

The Good, the Bad & the Ugly

Never underestimate the power of the irate customer.
It takes a lot of time and energy to win over a customer and losing one only takes a few seconds .....

Remember my post of May 25th ? This was due to some orders around Pentecost that went wrong with some customers due to my moving/organising at home and Pentecost itself. Unfortunately one customer that had a Murphy's Law thing going on was so upset that she said she would do something about it and unfortunately she is on some messageboards..... And there are always people who add a little to the story. So I'm getting a bad rep at the moment which is quite disturbing to me being the perfectionist & virgo that I am.

Luckily I have loads of satisfied customers that keep coming back, but hey its tough competition out there in the land of online shops so if you do see some bad reviews and you've had good experiences please share this as it's nice to hear about a good review too :)

Very long update ..... and some photo's too .... part I

So I haven't been sharing lot's of photo's lately but I will be making that
up.

If you're interested in what's been going on in our lives then read on, if
not click away now and don't look back.

We had a garden extreme make over, thank god for sweet parents who arranged it
all, all we had to do was make a plan and pick out tiles. Here are some way
before, during and current state pictures. Just a few more things need to be
done (mostly by us) and then it's finished ! We hope to make our own
loungeset after our holiday in july.... Stay tuned for that adventure. Pic 1 left is the old situation (about 3 yrs ago), photo 2 right is demolition and so on ..... This weekend the playhouse will be back & some plants in pots and I will show the final photo of this extreme make over !



We went out for a fun day with Liek, Remon & Arvid and had a blast @
Plaswijk Park. Funniest thing of the day ? Colin appearantly waches too much
Rocket Power as he keeps calling him Remon "Raymundo" LOL. Besides taking
loads of photo's of the kids:

Oh and then there was Scrap-a-Ganza last Sunday, I had only booked one day
this year and I must say it was the most relaxed sag I attended. I took 2
classes by Dyan Reavely (she was fun and her products are fab, will
definately be getting those !), Vivian Bonder (she's nice, and I would have
gotten more done if Corinne wasn't next to me LOL as she struts her own
stuff and I couldn't get my book to look like Vivian's even if I wanted to
haha) and then Karen B. (wow I just love how organised and structured her
workshops go ! and how does she come up with those cute interactive things.
Being an engineer you can tell she looks at supplies very differtently
...LOL). Took home 2 nice ladies from Manchester (you know we were talking
so much but I don't think we even exchanged names hihi) and dropped them off
at Schiphol after they had their pic taken with Bubbah (they couldn't
believe the coincidence him being my husband as they love his blog LOL).

Finally went to see Spiderman III with DH (we loooooooove movies especially
sci fi and fantasy) and even though the effects were FAB I must say Peter
Parker is a cry baby which was kind of a downer really ..... Hope Pirates of
the Carribean will be more fun !

Oh and I think somewhere inbetween I was tagged by Frederique to name 5 fave

mistakes & delays

I can be quite a critical person workwise (house, job and shop) about myself and others, I set high standards (I guess it has a bit to do with my sign Virgo...) and lately I've been having a hard time living up to them and still wanting to has been a difficult thing. Because when I'm critisized I really find that hard, but it's something I do to others tooo much. Something I am working on, being a bit less c, bit more mellow more and of course to admit when you've made a mistake as even the most critical person can do this too .... Gotta remember though to be less impulsive when admiting this, there's a time and place for everything. Learning every day ;)

To everyone who left a message for a RAK plse provide me with your/their addresses as I want to start purging this weekend .... that's going to be a tough job but hey it's got to be done.

Scrapbooking stuff can you ever have enough ?

well NO haha but you can have way tooo much in boxes ......

I had ordered stuff and brought home stuff from the wholesalers that I just hadn't gotten around to upload in the shop so I've been very busy with that last week ! Can I tempt you with some new hambly rubons (stars are almost sold out) ? Or with all of the other new yummy stuff in my store.....

Now I'm off to make a lot of invoices so I've you're due one it is on it's way ;)

The fab news is that Memory Lane Scrapbooking has found some new teachers who will be working with us. We are growing so hard, wherever you live in the Netherlands there's always a MLS teacher in the area ;) Curious who they are ?

Michael @ peanutball training (softball for kids) to try out (he can try 4 times before he joins) and he loved the first time !!!

How much effort does it take to make someone smile ?

I don't do chainletters or send on funny jokes and so on (used to a lot though when I just got email) but this is a request that touched my heart ! I want to spread the news, as for us scrappers it doesn't take a big effort to make this little boy smile.
We can make a card in less than 15 min. with all the scraps we have laying around and sending it is not a lot of work .... well no work at all really considering we mail raks and scrap supplies daily ;) . So let's make a sick little boy's wish come true and give him a mountain of birthday cards and help him get a worldrecord and make him smile, no effort at all really !

You have until May 30th so plenty of time to get your card to Canada, I'm getting the boys to make one too make it a family project !

Even though she is (and has been) ill for a while and doesn't feel like celebrating at all this year we sung our b'days songs with instruments and all over the phone, hope you liked it sweetie !!

I've moved

My scrap stuff including the shop into our old shed now converted into a scrap studio.... I will share some before & after photo's soon !

But somehow it's not fitting, and I'm amazed at how much stuff I've accumulated in the hallway & the living room ( I haven't even been to the attic yet.....) over the last 3 years .....

Conclusion of DH ... you have too much scrapstuff of you're own, get rid of it ... Just use something from the shop when you want to scrap ..... Well he's posted (March 1st) about how we have a problem about parting with our stuff so you can imagine how I've been sorting .... Thing is you see, there are a lot of things I've collected in the beginning like a lot of slide mounts, weird scrabble letters, a huge box of ribbon I rarely look in and the list goes on (no jolee's though LOL) as I see a scrapitem in everything !

So I guess some raks are in order ... You may have noticed I've added a map so I'd love to figure out who is visiting me from far far away so leave me a message stating where you're from and you could win a RAK.

And if you have someone you would like me to send a rak to (inspired by Elsie ;) ...) a beginner or someone who could use a little kindness, then leave me a message too !

Oh and if anyone can help me find some cute dolls like these for my scraproom (2nd hand is fine, pink is my fave color LOL but seriously see the cutie left in the back ? adorable!! ) I'll send you a superfab RAK with some shop stuff ! I found a cute santa clause one on Queensday !

Tourists

The M&M's and I went to Amsterdam last week and played tourists.

Actually we decided to join my mother who was entertaining Gaye & Robert who were visiting from Canada.



Took the train to Amsterdam (as you can see the M&M's loved this as this is not our normal transportation). We then took a boat tour through the canals (again not something we can usually do as DH gets seasick even on the canals ....) . Gaye always takes a tour with a horse & carriage if there is one where they are visiting (because of her background in having horses with carriages back home when she was young) through the centre and that was fab (although she said it doesn't compare to one in Central Park ;) and I believe her (don't have pics of this yet) ! Then while they did a tour of a certain district to pick up some prank gifts for friends so the M&M's and I had lunch at a fastfood chain of their choice and then we visited the fair on the Dam Square where they "caught" ducks and won a prize (and wanted to do all the games available .....) and went on the giant ferris wheel (obviously not with me as you know how I am with heights ...) with Gaye as she was the only one not afraid of heights and the guys REALLY wanted to go. When we got home we had arranged a babysit for the M&M's and went out to dinner with my parents, Gaye & Robbert & Ed joined us right after his late shift.



It was a nice day, it was great to meet Robert & Gaye and look at Amsterdam with fresh eyes !

MLS team lunch was fun (strawberries on sugarbread is delicious !!) and at the end of the day (had to go on in the evening though) I had 1 project finished and another one just waiting for the right Thickers to come in. Unfortunately not every one could make it but here's a pic of the girls

Make-over Show second episode

So I promised to give you all a heads up (again) on the make-over show, it's TONIGHT ! ***Edited - I was on @ the beginning, my 1 minute of fame was giving Dyan a hand ;) ***

Yes I am weird but there's always someone weirder ....

I was tagged by Birgit to bear all and tell you 10 weird things about myself, now I've done this before and since I am really not any weirder than I thought up last time I cutpastadded here and there and ended up with this ....

1. I am the CREAMQUEEN ! ok I admit to those who do not know me that well (wel Nicole knows now too after spending a night LOL) I have a thing for (wonder)creams. I have all different kinds, for all sorts of rashes, problems, itches, scrapes, burns you name it I will have a lovely little cream for it (and with me ....). And I have quite the ritual before bedtime ....

2. I can't stand bare toenails and think my feet look weird without nailpolish on them and therefore have been putting nailpolish on them since uhm forever.... 365 days a year. I usually have red on them but since a couple of years I'm into french manicure on them too. I also don't like it when other people have bare toes but I can resist putting polish on other peoples toes (except on my mom's .... )

3. while we're on the subject of feet, I do not like to have barefeet in my shoes with the exception of sandals. Now you could say it's the same but no, I CANNOT have barefeet in my shoes and wear granny footies in my shoes. I'm trying to better myself as I bought some crocs and you do not wear footies in them ....

4. Talking to me can be a bit confusing at times, as I hop from one subject to another while other people are still on the previous subject. Things go quicker in my head and can be hard to keep up with.....

5. I have 6 laundry baskets and still think that's not enough, I like to have all my laundry sorted by color. But dh won't let me buy anymore .....

6. I have a thing for tall, well built men but my men have always been shorter or just as tall as me but well built ;-) ....

7. I'm an organizational freak, I looooooove compartment boxes, little boxes, tags, file folders etc. Especially if they're in pretty colors :-)

8. How long do you think a teabag will last me ? Well more than 1 cup of tea that's for sure. Tea is my drink of choice (herbal that is) and I drink it quite light so one teabag goes a long way for me, 2 pots of tea easy ! Just check out Dutch Dare nr. 1 LOL.

9. I hate a messy disorganised home (see # 7) so the current state of my home is totally freaking me out 24/7 .... (Hopefully this will be sorted during the summer vacation which I have off since I work @ a school).

10. I hate movies with an open ending as this doesn't give me closure, so don't show me one before bedtime or I cannot sleep. The ending can be good or bad (guess which one I prefer ...) but there has to be an ending, obviously I do not like movies intended to have sequels ....

11. I share Birgit's habit of talking to myself, it is weird when we sit next to each other cropping hihi

Updates everywhere
