Very long update and some photo's too .... part II

Michael got his 3rd ribbon at his swimming lessons only one more to go and
then he can go for his diploma which we expect after the summer. Here's a funny pic of him, the ribbon and a matching balloon.



The boys had their pic's take at school, and even though colin was a bit ill
they took a good pic of them both !

Went to see Revlie, Ruben & Sanne with Corinne, wow talk about deadlines. I finished up
her scrap pressie literally seconds before we had to leave :

That about sums up part II all up for the last 2 weeks ........ I warned you it was
a lot ! And I will be sharing some more pic's this week of how a little imagination & some normal clothes make some nice dress up gear for Colin's creche party!

Unfortunately the after party wasn't exactly what we expected, but we still had fun. And this morning (after 3 hrs of sleep) there I was making DH coffee for his Father's day breakfast.

I am so in a scrapping mood lately got lots of inspiration (maybe it's because my scraproom is getting more and more organized. I whipped this little dutch dare up yesterday brought to us by the sweet & talented Celine, just some lovely pic's of the boys (this is just one side will post the other side soon) combined with paper designed by a sweet friend I was extremely happy :D.

The Good, the Bad & the Ugly

Never underestimate the power of the irate customer.
It takes a lot of time and energy to win over a customer and losing one only takes a few seconds .....

Remember my post of May 25th ? This was due to some orders around Pentecost that went wrong with some customers due to my moving/organising at home and Pentecost itself. Unfortunately one customer that had a Murphy's Law thing going on was so upset that she said she would do something about it and unfortunately she is on some messageboards..... And there are always people who add a little to the story. So I'm getting a bad rep at the moment which is quite disturbing to me being the perfectionist & virgo that I am.

Luckily I have loads of satisfied customers that keep coming back, but hey its tough competition out there in the land of online shops so if you do see some bad reviews and you've had good experiences please share this as it's nice to hear about a good review too :)

Very long update ..... and some photo's too .... part I

So I haven't been sharing lot's of photo's lately but I will be making that
up.

If you're interested in what's been going on in our lives then read on, if
not click away now and don't look back.

We had a garden extreme make over, thank god for sweet parents who arranged it
all, all we had to do was make a plan and pick out tiles. Here are some way
before, during and current state pictures. Just a few more things need to be
done (mostly by us) and then it's finished ! We hope to make our own
loungeset after our holiday in july.... Stay tuned for that adventure. Pic 1 left is the old situation (about 3 yrs ago), photo 2 right is demolition and so on ..... This weekend the playhouse will be back & some plants in pots and I will show the final photo of this extreme make over !



We went out for a fun day with Liek, Remon & Arvid and had a blast @
Plaswijk Park. Funniest thing of the day ? Colin appearantly waches too much
Rocket Power as he keeps calling him Remon "Raymundo" LOL. Besides taking
loads of photo's of the kids:

Oh and then there was Scrap-a-Ganza last Sunday, I had only booked one day
this year and I must say it was the most relaxed sag I attended. I took 2
classes by Dyan Reavely (she was fun and her products are fab, will
definately be getting those !), Vivian Bonder (she's nice, and I would have
gotten more done if Corinne wasn't next to me LOL as she struts her own
stuff and I couldn't get my book to look like Vivian's even if I wanted to
haha) and then Karen B. (wow I just love how organised and structured her
workshops go ! and how does she come up with those cute interactive things.
Being an engineer you can tell she looks at supplies very differtently
...LOL). Took home 2 nice ladies from Manchester (you know we were talking
so much but I don't think we even exchanged names hihi) and dropped them off
at Schiphol after they had their pic taken with Bubbah (they couldn't
believe the coincidence him being my husband as they love his blog LOL).

Finally went to see Spiderman III with DH (we loooooooove movies especially
sci fi and fantasy) and even though the effects were FAB I must say Peter
Parker is a cry baby which was kind of a downer really ..... Hope Pirates of
the Carribean will be more fun !

Oh and I think somewhere inbetween I was tagged by Frederique to name 5 fave

mistakes & delays

I can be quite a critical person workwise (house, job and shop) about myself and others, I set high standards (I guess it has a bit to do with my sign Virgo...) and lately I've been having a hard time living up to them and still wanting to has been a difficult thing. Because when I'm critisized I really find that hard, but it's something I do to others tooo much. Something I am working on, being a bit less c, bit more mellow more and of course to admit when you've made a mistake as even the most critical person can do this too .... Gotta remember though to be less impulsive when admiting this, there's a time and place for everything. Learning every day ;)

To everyone who left a message for a RAK plse provide me with your/their addresses as I want to start purging this weekend .... that's going to be a tough job but hey it's got to be done.

Scrapbooking stuff can you ever have enough ?

well NO haha but you can have way tooo much in boxes ......

I had ordered stuff and brought home stuff from the wholesalers that I just hadn't gotten around to upload in the shop so I've been very busy with that last week ! Can I tempt you with some new hambly rubons (stars are almost sold out) ? Or with all of the other new yummy stuff in my store.....

Now I'm off to make a lot of invoices so I've you're due one it is on it's way ;)

The fab news is that Memory Lane Scrapbooking has found some new teachers who will be working with us. We are growing so hard, wherever you live in the Netherlands there's always a MLS teacher in the area ;) Curious who they are ?

Well does the name Birgit ring a bell ? It should as we all so love her work and workshops !

Michael @ peanutball training (softball for kids) to try out (he can try 4 times before he joins) and he loved the first time !!!

How much effort does it take to make someone smile ?

I don't do chainletters or send on funny jokes and so on (used to a lot though when I just got email) but this is a request that touched my heart ! I want to spread the news, as for us scrappers it doesn't take a big effort to make this little boy smile.
We can make a card in less than 15 min. with all the scraps we have laying around and sending it is not a lot of work .... well no work at all really considering we mail raks and scrap supplies daily ;) . So let's make a sick little boy's wish come true and give him a mountain of birthday cards and help him get a worldrecord and make him smile, no effort at all really !

You have until May 30th so plenty of time to get your card to Canada, I'm getting the boys to make one too make it a family project !

Even though she is (and has been) ill for a while and doesn't feel like celebrating at all this year we sung our b'days songs with instruments and all over the phone, hope you liked it sweetie !!

I've moved

My scrap stuff including the shop into our old shed now converted into a scrap studio.... I will share some before & after photo's soon !

But somehow it's not fitting, and I'm amazed at how much stuff I've accumulated in the hallway & the living room ( I haven't even been to the attic yet.....) over the last 3 years .....

Conclusion of DH ... you have too much scrapstuff of you're own, get rid of it ... Just use something from the shop when you want to scrap ..... Well he's posted (March 1st) about how we have a problem about parting with our stuff so you can imagine how I've been sorting .... Thing is you see, there are a lot of things I've collected in the beginning like a lot of slide mounts, weird scrabble letters, a huge box of ribbon I rarely look in and the list goes on (no jolee's though LOL) as I see a scrapitem in everything !

So I guess some raks are in order ... You may have noticed I've added a map so I'd love to figure out who is visiting me from far far away so leave me a message stating where you're from and you could win a RAK.

And if you have someone you would like me to send a rak to (inspired by Elsie ;) ...) a beginner or someone who could use a little kindness, then leave me a message too !

And of course for all the dutchies that are visiting, let me know where you live and how you found my blog and you're in the race for a RAK.

Tourists

The M&M's and I went to Amsterdam last week and played tourists.

Actually we decided to join my mother who was entertaining Gaye & Robert who were visiting from Canada.



Took the train to Amsterdam (as you can see the M&M's loved this as this is not our normal transportation). We then took a boat tour through the canals (again not something we can usually do as DH gets seasick even on the canals ....) . Gaye always takes a tour with a horse & carriage if there is one where they are visiting (because of her background in having horses with carriages back home when she was young) through the centre and that was fab (although she said it doesn't compare to one in Central Park ;) and I believe her (don't have pics of this yet) ! Then while they did a tour of a certain district to pick up some prank gifts for friends so the M&M's and I had lunch at a fastfood chain of their choice and then we visited the fair on the Dam Square where they "caught" ducks and won a prize (and wanted to do all the games available .....) and went on the giant ferris wheel (obviously not with me as you know how I am with heights ...) with Gaye as she was the only one not afraid of heights and the guys REALLY wanted to go. When we got home we had arranged a babysit for the M&M's and went out to dinner with my parents, Gaye & Robbert & Ed joined us right after his late shift.



It was a nice day, it was great to meet Robert & Gaye and look at Amsterdam with fresh eyes !

MLS team lunch was fun (strawberries on sugarbread is delicious !!) and at the end of the day (had to go on in the evening though) I had 1 project finished and another one just waiting for the right Thickers to come in. Unfortunately not every one could make it but here's a pic of the girls

Make-over Show second episode

Yes I am weird but there's always someone weirder ....

I was tagged by Birgit to bear all and tell you 10 weird things about myself, now I've done this before and since I am really not any weirder than I thought up last time I cutpastadded here and there and ended up with this ....

1. I am the CREAMQUEEN ! ok I admit to those who do not know me that well (wel Nicole knows now too after spending a night LOL) I have a thing for (wonder)creams. I have all different kinds, for all sorts of rashes, problems, itches, scrapes, burns you name it I will have a lovely little cream for it (and with me ....). And I have quite the ritual before bedtime ....

2. I can't stand bare toenails and think my feet look weird without nailpolish on them and therefore have been putting nailpolish on them since uhm forever.... 365 days a year. I usually have red on them but since a couple of years I'm into french manicure on them too. I also don't like it when other people have bare toes but I can resist putting polish on other peoples toes (except on my mom's .... )

3. while we're on the subject of feet, I do not like to have barefeet in my shoes with the exception of sandals. Now you could say it's the same but no, I CANNOT have barefeet in my shoes and wear granny footies in my shoes. I'm trying to better myself as I bought some crocs and you do not wear footies in them ....

4. Talking to me can be a bit confusing at times, as I hop from one subject to another while other people are still on the previous subject. Things go quicker in my head and can be hard to keep up with.....

5. I have 6 laundry baskets and still think that's not enough, I like to have all my laundry sorted by color. But dh won't let me buy anymore .....

6. I have a thing for tall, well built men but my men have always been shorter or just as tall as me but well built ;-) ....

7. I'm an organizational freak, I looooooove compartment boxes, little boxes, tags, file folders etc. Especially if they're in pretty colors :-)

8. How long do you think a teabag will last me ? Well more than 1 cup of tea that's for sure. Tea is my drink of choice (herbal that is) and I drink it quite light so one teabag goes a long way for me, 2 pots of tea easy ! Just check out Dutch Dare nr. 1 LOL.

9. I hate a messy disorganised home (see # 7) so the current state of my home is totally freaking me out 24/7 .... (Hopefully this will be sorted during the summer vacation which I have off since I work @ a school).

10. I hate movies with an open ending as this doesn't give me closure, so don't show me one before bedtime or I cannot sleep. The ending can be good or bad (guess which one I prefer ...) but there has to be an ending, obviously I do not like movies intended to have sequels ....

11. I share Birgit's habit of talking to myself, it is weird when we sit next to each other cropping hihi

Now if you know me really well you probably know even more weird things about me, care to elaborate ???

Wat a saturday !

Wow our first big workshopday @ Memory Lane Scrapbooking, it was so exciting, stressful and fun (yes it can be all of this together ;) ! ) to organise and execute.

I learned so much about planning, how to set up a big workshop and about how valuable help from friends is !

Big shout out to Bubbah, Martine, Nicole, Monique and Mandy for helping me out before, during and after the workshop. Couldn't have done it without you all, you rock !

Fancypants Heaven

make over good idea or not ?

I promised last week to tell you a little secret and I hadn't gotten around to sharing yet. So here goes.

Two of my friends (and 2 of their friends) had autitioned for a new dutch programme with Dyan Beekman for a makeover and they had a blast.

I was so surprised when I was called up 2 weeks ago by the producers to help out (sort of shocked too as I thought they were pulling my leg) and find out the days they worked, give personal info etc. I agreed to help out but mind you I couldn't tell anyone and the husbands didn't even know yet..... They would surprise the ladies the next week (last tuesday) and I had to make a date with one of the girls as she was a SAHM and otherwise it would be hard to make sure she was indeed at home. So there I was when they came in and filmed .....but I'm sure that fromt the about 3 hours they filmed you won't see me LOL.

The presentation of the make over was last week on wednesday and they had asked if they could ask me some things and I agreed hoping they would forget about little old me, even though I hid behind one of the husbands they didn't forget :S and although the ladies were very beautifuly made over it just wasn't them. I could find one thing for each of them that I liked but the make over was not what I expected at all, I won't get into too much details.

Haven't spoken to them all yet, but I am curious (will see them next week at a birthday party) to see how they liked it and if they changed back.... I won't share all the stories but I know from one that she was pretty unhappy .....

too many things in one day

You know how looking back on a day you think, this was just too much goings on for one day ? Well that's what I had yesterday.

I went to 2 wholesalers to pick up the last ribbons, gel medium and some fab new pens & crayons for Corinne's workshops (we have only a few seats left for the workshops so if you haven't registered yet you still can !)

After that off to see Corinne to make preperations for the workshop, I brought Colin along and he and Jadenn had a blast playing inside and outside !

Then back to Hoofddorp to pick up Michael who was playing with a friend, but I arrived too early (DH was so sweet to change the time on my mobile but forgot to tell me so I kept adding an hour all day due to summertime changes, can't be upset as it was so sweet of him to do this for me). Since I had an hour left I stayed for some tea and the boys played until .....

Colin fell of the swing and was hurt .... The boys said he fell on his back so the father of the house carried him in and gave him to me and that's when I discovered an enormous bump on his head. So ice pack and some TLC was in order, but after a while even candy could not cheer him up and he fell asleep .... Now appearantly this is normal due to the adrenaline levels but he had a hard time when I tried waking him up so we headed for the emergency post at the hospital and he fell asleep again in the car .... In the waiting area he was still very drowzy for about 30 minutes and then they did the first assesment and he "woke up". We had to wait again and he was so lively we were wondering what we were doing there but it's beter to have a bump like that looked at.
Eventually he had some tests and then the pediatrician looked him over and said he was too lively to keep in the hospital but because of the size of the bump (2 cm diameter) we had to wake him up about every hour during the night. I was thankfull they hadn't seen him 30 min. earlier or they would have kept him there.

After all this I hadn't done my shopping so we did it anyway and got home fairly late, actually same time as dh who had the evening shift at work so we were able to eat together, needless to say the boys didn't go to bed @ their usual time.

Got lot's of orders ready for shipment done (with the 1st and new for the dt product challenge kit for april) and went to bed early as it was going to be a rough night which I survived but I'm a bit of a zombie today.

So as I said some days there is just too much going on in one day .....

Kilometers that is .... That's what I'm up to until now, and although I was a bit off and didn't run last week it went pretty well yesterday. Coming sunday I will be running the Nike Ladies Run which I haven't in 6 years and I'm happy to say i will make it as those last 2 km will be run on willpower & adrenaline !

Had so much fun this weekend, some shopping with the boys, lot's of scrapping on an altered project which I will show later, learned to crochet (and hope I will remember how to make those cute flowers when I try it all by myself) and a fun get together with our portugal gang ! Daring Wednesday

Yes ladies and gents (are there any here ?),

It was time for another Dutch Dare and it wasn't an easy one this time phew...
I managed to finish around 0.00 and I'm actually quite happy, might add some more doodling to mine but didn't have time.

The challenge was "proud to be ..." and to use 3 techniques (I managed to sew, emboss and doodle) and 3 different brands of paper (I used Cosmo Cricket Dutch Girl, Basic Grey Scarlet's Letter and Bazzill Kraft and Honeydew one of my favorite colors btw) in the project. I actually used 6 papers as the 5" inch bloomer is also made of paper and aren't those lovely chipboard flowers just a lot of paper pressed together ;).

one week

One week has gone by and I did get a lot from my list done, unfortunately not everything. I even added a thing, like switching to the new blogger, did you see ?

MLS news :

Have to start my Dutch Dare project for wednesday, I finally have an idea so I can get cracking tonight.

I have uploaded so many great products into the shop and have loads more to go. Next week I will continue as the boxes are not empty yet ;)

With all these new products I will have to add a lot more products to the sales section cause it just won't fit .... In the next few weeks I will also be going through my own supplies/tools and start clearing out and putting some things for sale and making some RAKS and so on, you wouldn't believe (well those that have been here do) what I've acummulated over the last few years.
1st thing for sale :
My cricut (I ordered the QK Silhouette to play with) and it's going cheap ladies ! I have only used one mat so not used so much yet (I will supply a new one), 2 cartridges (xmas and doodle alfa) and a toolkit to be purchased for wholesale incl. btw (items can each be sold seperately). So if you are interested email me !
I also still have a Sizzix machine from a cancelled order for only 70 euro's so if anyone is interested ?

What I can share, and oh and I'm delighted to say.... Jo-Anne will be joining the MLS team as of April 1st ! So be on the lookout for her on the MLS site and the dutch dares blog.

Running is going ok, I've been going about 2x a week, not too bad it's a good start !


Plan to get some spring feeling going this week, got all the felt decoration Xenos had to offer to I can really go all out ;)


Some other things happened last week (which I can't share yet) which made my life even more busier but is soooo funny, will share more next week about this.

BTW I've been trying to run again ... the weather and flu/colds etc. have been keeping me from going regularly but I'm hoping to get into the swing of things, now if only it was dry this afternoon I could go again !

Wacky Workshop Weekend

I had sooo much fun @ the Wacky Workshop Weekend hosted by de Creatie. I took almost all of Celine Navarro's workshops (and boy do I wish I had taken them all) she's very inspirational and creates with such ease ! I have a bunch more unfinished but cool projects, cropped with a wonderfull bunch of women (even got 3 of my DOM cards done, 2 lo's and my DD is almost done too .. wow), met people I only know the names of and not the faces or recognized the faces but not the names and met some cool new scrappers (Astrid you should really always wear your sunglasses LOL, Linda Loe & Patricia Hamelink maybe we should wear nametags ;) and Martijntje you really need to get a blog, it really is simple I promise (if I can do it anyone can !). Met up with Nicole, Daphne, Liek and Moniqe, Elwira, Bonnette, Flo, Birgit, Corinne (so great to have some time to chat & scrap together) and I missed the ones who couldn't make it (Anita, Rev, Jo see you soon I hope !). Oh and Mandy and I had a wonderfull adventure @ our Bed & Breakfast address. Let's just say the people were really nice, the place just looked & smelled funky, lot's of okld and dead things around the house, and the only thing good were the friendly owners, the price, the breakfast and the clean bedlinnen ......Mandy thanks for sharing this adventure with me, it was fun !

Now I was totally confused as to when I should congratulate Wendy as she was born on February 29th .... damn those leapyears confusing me LOL. So I thought I'd do it on March 1st since febr 28 was too early but Wendy had a good theory, her b'day is always on the last day of februari, hmmm sounds good to me.

Sweetie when shall we eat some cake ? Then I can give you this card and all the scrapgoodies that have been waiting here to be used ;) and I want take your picture as I discovered I don't have any of you .... :(
